About the Author
Michaela L. Wakefield is a BIPOC author based in New England, USA. She is an MFA candidate (exp. May ‘26) at Bay Path University, and an alumnus of University of Massachusetts - Lowell, where she completed her Commonwealth Honors English degree in creative writing with a minor in psychology in Spring 2023.
She has been published twice in Harvard Medical/Dental School’s journal of humanities “In Vivo Magazine”, awarded the 2019 Robert J. Lechner Fellowship in creative writing, and won first place in the Riverhawk first-generation essay contest. Her creative nonfiction and research abstracts have been accepted by NeMLA in 2026.
During the day, she works as an Associate Probation Officer for juvenile court where she oversees a caseload of families on Care and Protection / Family Supervision cases and is a co-administrator of the Alternative Arts program.
