Change the Narrative: Write Your Life as a Fairy Tale

Join Michaela L. Wakefield and Stephanie Silenti for a virtual workshop series on using fairy tales to write new narratives. Together, we will explore fairy tales from around the world and learn the building blocks of fairy telling, then use them to write our own. Through readings and instructor-led exercises, participants will be empowered to rewrite their own life stories and take control of their personal narratives.

*This series runs one evening a week for four weeks for a total of eight hours. All class meetings are conducted on Zoom for Jan 28 cohort. Previous writing experience is NOT a requirement.

About the Author

Michaela L. Wakefield is a BIPOC author based in New England, USA. She is an MFA candidate at Bay Path University, and an alumnus of University of Massachusetts - Lowell, where she completed her Commonwealth Honors English degree in creative writing with a minor in psychology in Spring 2023.

She has been published in Harvard Medical/Dental School’s journal of humanities “In Vivo Magazine”, awarded the 2019 Robert J. Lechner Fellowship in creative writing, and won first place in the Riverhawk first-generation essay contest.

In her free time, you can find her writing and reading; hand-knitting; and drinking strawberry-banana-pineapple smoothies while wearing her favorite duck slippers.

Last project completed: Wrote a profile article on a white house honoree

Current project: Editing a 50,000+ word novel

Future project: Writing approx. 7000 for a short story anthology
